How to get to the Bottle Beach viewpoint
Like a lot of places in Koh Phangan, getting there can be a challenge. This post has two options for getting to the Bottle Beach viewpoint.
Route 1: The usual way
The start of the hike is located behind Bottle Beach resort 2. There is a sign indicating the way, which is pretty easy to spot. If unsure, ask resort staff members nearby.
The path from here is pretty straightforward, so navigating off-route is pretty hard. You'll pass through lots of jungle and need to climb over big boulders. In the wet season, the mosquitos can be terrible here, so bring repellent.
The climb takes less than an hour, and before you know it you'll reach the huge rocks at the top.
This is the most common way of getting to the viewpoint. However, it's not the most efficient way of getting to the top and takes longer than route 2.
Route 2: The easier option
This route is better for people who aren't currently at Bottle Beach. If you are already at the beach, then follow route 1.
To get to the Bottle Beach viewpoint the easier way, you'll need to take a motorbike and head towards

Keep heading straight past this sign. However, at the fork where you would usually turn left to go to Bottle Beach, keep going straight passed the Haad Khuad Resort sign.
Take this road up about 500 meters until you see an opening in the bushes to the left. This is not easy to spot, but there are not a lot of openings, so keep an eye out and you'll spot it.
Follow this easy route up to the Bottle Beach viewpoint and enjoy the incredible views!
Is the Bottle Beach viewpoint hike difficult?
Route 1 is definitely more challenging. It is steep and requires some scrambling over boulders. However, it takes less than an hour to complete. We didn't encounter any major issues.
Route 2 is a lot shorter and easier. It requires the same boulder-climbing at the end, as you need to do this to get the views.
Overall, the Bottle Beach viewpoint hike isn't too difficult and people of average fitness levels shouldn't struggle.
Note: It can get really hot on this hike. Make sure to bring plenty of water and wear appropriate footwear.
